First please click on this link to enter the Library Search engine. FYI
This tutorial will show you how to locate a book, either online or in print held in the Library.
How to use this tutorial
Lets get started!
From the book citation example below, type (or copy & paste) the book title into the Library Search box, then click Search.
Book citation example:
Rigby, K 2012, Bullying interventions in schools : six basic approaches, Chichester, West Sussex, Wiley.
Tip: for long titles you can often just search using the first part or phrase.
Go to Step 2: Search Results
Usually your title will be one of the first search results - use the citation information to confirm that it's the book you're looking for.
Scroll through your results (it's probably the first result) until you find:
Book citation:
Is this book in the results list?
Go to Step 3: Limit to Source Type - book
Sometimes the book you are looking for won't be the first result.
Try this!
Click on 'Books' under 'Source Types' on the left.
*You may need to scroll down*
You now have only books and ebooks in your results list.
Go to Step 4: Access the book
For the book citation below we have found an eBook (online). eBooks can be read online or downloaded to read later.
Note: Some eBooks are restricted to a certain number of people reading it at one time, try again later if you are unable to get access straight away.
If the book is online:
Click on the link provided, then log in with your UOW username and password to read the whole thing.
If the book you want to read is in the Library:
Take note of the Location and Call number of the book so you can collect it from the shelf.
Go to: When the Book is not IN LIBRARY
If someone else has borrowed the book you can Place a hold on the book
To do this click on the link that says 'View in Catalogue/Place hold' then click on the 'Hold' button and follow the instructions.
